If joy came with instructions, I believe that one of them would be “For best results, do not squeeze.” So often we squeeze joy. We squeeze it out by doing too much and we try to squeeze it in because we are doing too much. I understand that sometimes we have no choice, but if your joy is always time pressured, you will find that more often than not it eludes you. You see, a key ingredient to joy is time…time to savour, time to bask, time to drink it all in, time to soak, time to linger, time to share and time to remember. With this in mind I am working at trying to break the cycle of business so that my joy is not being squeezed as much and so there is more room for it in the first place.
