Kenya Mission
Since 2002, Salisbury Vineyard has supported the work of RUSH (Reaching the Unreached through Self Help) in Kakamega, Kenya. This ministry was started and is led by Andrew & Lucy Amukowa. It started as a ministry to widows and orphans, but has grown into a primary, a secondary school, tailoring and carpentry schools, four churches and a pastors network.
We are excited to be sending a team of 7 to spend a week with our RUSH friends. Our goal is to serve and bless the RUSH team and their work.
On previous visits one way we have done this is to gift pastors with bicycles, motorbikes or a cow. These gifts have enabled them to take the gospel further afield and to support their own family. In the case of gifting a cow, those who receive the gift promise to give away the first calf born to that cow. The next family to be blessed promises to do the same again. This way a whole community can be blessed and empowered to support themselves.
The team leave the UK on Thursday 11th June and are away until Saturday 20th June. They will share testimonies and report back to the church on Sunday 21st June.
You may not be travelling to Kenya this time, but you can still be involved. We would like to gift more cows and motorbikes to the RUSH pastors, and if funds permit, the team will be building a house for a disabled lady who currently does not have a safe place to sleep each night.
How you can be involved:
Praying for the team in the lead up to the mission or on one of the days they are away (we will give you a brief of what the team will be doing on this day so you know how to pray).
Transport the team to or from London Heathrow, (we need transport to LHR on the morning of 11th June and from LHR on the afternoon of 20th June)
Give towards a cow, a motorbike or a house for a disabled lady, please send your donation to (Salisbury Vineyard Christian Fellowship, Royal Bank of Scotland 16-00-21 10963621 – marked RUSH)
To give you an idea of costs, a cow with required vaccinations is £600, a motorbike for a pastor is £1100 and the house for the lady is £1200. You may not be able to cover the full amount for any of these items, but together we may be able to buy a cow or a motorbike. So far we have commitments to fund 4 cows and 2 motorbikes.
