One good thing leads to another

We knew that an ambulance for Butere would have a massive impact on the local community. Already we are hearing stories of people whose lives have been saved simply because the RUSH ambulance was available to get them to hospital in Kakamega. But now we are seeing a wider impact. The RUSH team have begun to train a group of home based care workers. Their brief is to help with follow up care after people are discharged from hospital and to spot potential health problems in people and treat them so they don't need to go to hospital. This is RUSH's vision playing out - helping people to help themselves. So because of the ambulance, Butere now has a dedicated team of home carers and this is also employment within the community.
